Easy to do when it’s just audio files with no user interaction though. Neat that it’s continued existence in this manner at least, even if the big companies have steered toward trying to be the podcast platform.

Thank you for explaining and for the article, that makes sense. I can’t see any reason against having it, but I’ve never had to interact with that so I’m not qualified enough to form a concrete opinion!
Can someone explain this article? I’m not sure what signing a commit is. If it’s the information appended with a commit (username, time of commit, commit message), then it sounds insane to be against that. It’s so helpful to not only know who did what in case you need to reach out to the person behind something, but also knowing the why behind it can be important.
The majority of the issues the author has seem strange to me. I can understand not wanting GitHub to be this central authority. However, in what world is making a commit to a repo indicative of one endorsing every single line in a repo? And the security issues just come down to “don’t let your data leak”. Though that could be an issue if GitHub leaks it themselves.
What in the fuck is this title.
Picard show in book form? Sounds like self harm. I thought Humble Bundle was for video games though?
Just wanted to say it’s really neat to have a giveaway for a Star Trek game here. :)
Thanks, I was not about to sit through an ad just for an ad.
Does he? I could see him taking a deal like that.
I’m not familiar with those examples you listed, however I did not mean that people make money like we do now. I thought in ST that governments still had their own currencies.
I remember in one of the episodes of DS9 where Sisko visits his father, he makes a point that his father used a large portion of his monthly transporter credits to travel a large distance on Earth. And as for the DS9 station, I assumed Starfleet crew had stipends since they hang out at Quark’s, and I doubt he offers services free of charge.
Another user also claimed it’s probably not best to take Pelia’s cash-less society remark at face value, could have been sarcasm. She’s probably older than Earth currency!
More likely your needs and most of your wants are covered, but not everything. So currency exists for what is not provided by the government. Or in the case of something important like transporters, an arbitrary limit to prevent abuse. Also there are plenty of profit-driven characters we see even if they are a species from the Federation.
Is Earth/the Federation explicitly moneyless at this time? Even by DS9 we still see currency being used in the form of latinum. I interpreted this line as the chief going out to strike a deal with a non-Federation, independent supplier. Presumably using whatever budget Starfleet provides.
Soon as you said woke I saw why you got banned. Absolute child bringing that mentality into Star Trek of all places.
What makes it more free and open? Banning those who disagree? You got any sources??? This place seems pretty normal.
Just to test your theory: TOS is mind numbingly boring.
It is a shame this strike is happening right as Star Trek shows have made a great comeback. Understandable though. Hopefully the people responsible for our entertainment get everything they ask for!
Definitely worth the stink when you get to season 3 and the final scene with Q. Good luck!
I’ve always liked the pair of friends but this answers my question of why they were even a pair to begin with. Always thought it was weird Bashir just let this incredibly suspicious tailor hover around him. I chalked it up to the writers wanting to make an unlikely friendship situation.
Definitely watch the rest of the Stargate movies and then get into Atlantis. The Stargate series is very much Star Trek but with a more grounded premise. Yeah there are aliens out there, but the majority of the powers are not interested in getting along with these plucky Earthlings.
Also seconding the SyFy shows, especially Eureka and Dark Matter. Eureka is much more comedic and optimistic than the usual science fiction show. About 5 seasons and was given the chance to end properly. Dark Matter is, well, dark. Opposite of the Star Trek universe, but has great character arcs and plot lines. Absolutely worth watching the 3(?) seasons even if it ends on a cliff hangar.
I think it was great. Felt like I was watching a new season of TNG. In a season with so many legacy characters, I was not expecting that Vadic and Shaw would end up being some of my favorite characters. Great send off for the TNG crew. :)
Interesting. I welcome any change that drives it away from being purely for Apple apps. Funny and creative use of the slider element for the iOS version.
