Just pirate it. Really not worth that amount of money.

Blergh!
Thank you, Star Trek admins!
Oh. Dear. Lord.
Now I understand and appreciate my instance’s admins even more.
Dang, but thanks for the explanation! Is there a specific reason why some instances chose to defederate from them? I know about the grad triangle, but that’s absolutely reasonable. ^^
I would love to subscribe, but somehow my instance replies with an error message trying to access the instance on which the community is hosted:
There was an error on the server. Try refreshing your browser. If that doesn’t work, come back at a later time. If the problem persists, you can seek help in the Lemmy support community or Lemmy Matrix room. If you would like to reach out to one of Star Trek Website admins for support, try the following Matrix addresses: @valuesubtracted:matrix.org The server returned this error: couldnt_find_community. This may be useful for admins and developers to diagnose and fix the error

TotallyNotSpez@startrek.websiteOPto Star Trek Social Club@startrek.website•Top 3 episodes (all series) for a newbieEnglish1·4 months agoTNG S1 is… odd, to say the least. There are a few single episodes I do like, though. S2 starts off stronger compared to S1 (which is not that difficult) and starting with S3, TNG really takes off. Enjoy the ride!
Of course one can start with LD, but as I said before, it only worked for me because of all the references since the characters, the story and the style of comedy just don’t do it for me personally.
TotallyNotSpez@startrek.websiteOPto Star Trek Social Club@startrek.website•Top 3 episodes (all series) for a newbieEnglish1·4 months agoI think SNW is a good start for someone enterily new to Star Trek. However, I would advise against starting with Lower Decks. Maybe it’s just not my cup of tea in general and the only reason I did enjoy LD quite a lot is due to tightly knitted references (i.e. Giant Spock’s skeleton, prank calling Armus, and so on). It’s basically like how someone here recommended TNG before DS9 because it sets the stage. It’s also why I’d recommend skipping SNW’s S2E7 (Those old scientists) until you are familiar with LD in general.
May I ask about your favourites of TNG S2? There are some strong standalone episodes. :)

I play fairly average support characters. Humans in Fantasy (Vengeance Paladin in 5e, Cleric in Midgard, Ranger with nature magic in a homebrew system). In Cyberpunk Red I’m playing a Nomad with zero cyberware, but top notch gear to compensate that disadvantage.
