homeassistant@lemmy.world•How many of you have an HA solution, which is open to the internet?English
52·13 days agoI just use a Cloudflare tunnel using the Cloudflared plugin and a custom domain name. So no need to open ports. I use long passwords for the users. Not sure how unsafe it is but in HA you get a notification when a failed login happened.

Yeah they degrade. Tech has improved a lot and they don’t degrade as fast as screens from the 2000’s but they still degrade. OLED more so than LCD. But if they degrade gradually and evenly you won’t really notice.

73·22 days agoMany Latinos are super religious. It’s not just the billionaire propaganda machine it’s centuries of indoctrination from the Catholic Church. Even if the billionaire propaganda machine didn’t exist and every news media outlet is factual, independent and transparent many will still vote for an R because of their religious beliefs.
Even if you have a high nits screen that laptop is gonna run hot in direct sunlight. Screens don’t exactly like that. Especially something like an OLED. It will degrade the screen faster.

Isn’t she also a rabid MAGAt Trump supporter. So probably not pleasant to work with either.
Business casual is a dress shirt and chinos/dress pants, loafers and sometimes a blazer/sports coat. Basically the omission of the tie and the fancy dress shoes makes it business casual. A polo and chinos is only business casual in a big box store or the tech industry. Anywhere else it’s just casual.

Formula 1@lemmy.world•F1 pre-season testing: Who are winners and losers?
7·2 months agoNot really surprising. Honda had shutdown their f1 r&d department completely. They are basically starting from scratch. The only thing they did in the last 3 years was basically tech support for Red Bull.

The ffmpeg team was mad at Google when they reported a bug that was found and reported automatically with an AI. Google reported the bug without providing a fix and also gave an ultimatum. Google would publicize the bug report after 60 days. That’s what pissed off the ffmpeg devs. Not to mention that it was a very obscure bug, like ffmpeg didn’t decode a video file from a 90’s videogame correctly.
Anthropic on the other hand found a bug and provided a fix. So why would they be mad if the fix is properly written and fixes the bug ?
