  • Thanks! I definitely was when it began, yes. Was probably developing (maybe due to those in some measure) before the dumbbells, and those are what set it over the edge maybe. I’m unfortunately a stubborn git who usually takes a long time (sometimes weeks) to realize “oh…that’s not supposed to hurt like that”.

You mean overhand grip I assume? Not underhand? As being the problematic one? I did switch to neutral and underhand once the injury really got rolling but it was probably way too late by then.

  • Hey cool! Small little comm., but I’ll go for it!

Anyone got any tips for golfers elbow? Never played golf in my dang life lol.

    Some notes:

    • both my elbows, worse on dominant hand
    • fairly strong hands/forearms; no significant prior injury; rock climbing years ago, lifting on and off
    • started in earnest after I bought up some adjustable dumbbells and added those in (strength routine had been largely calisthenics and barbell work for ~months prior)
    • starting to figure my desk height/general work setup might be keeping it aggravated? I’m on a computer for work all day every day basically.
    • I stopped all real effort (as in, still doing life stuff, but no lifting) with my arms for months. Finally stopped hurting but I think it’s still there…patiently waiting to destroy my enthusiasm and motivation again
    • haven’t tried much PT, I’m aware of some exercises and I should probably put some effort there…
    • I’m no spring chicken 😅

Don’t say go to a doctor lol. Obviously I should go to a doctor, and I probably won’t. Anybody got anything?

  • Feel like DMing a bit? I’m in a similar boat, but not as far along. I’ve got what I believe is a viable idea with a niche but common market, I’m largely familiar with the tech involved (having built something similar before), and even the costs. Currently working on a POC before trying to conduct actual market research interviews (I realize most folks consider that backwards and are probably right).

  • I swear even before this stuff I’ve noticed quality slipping. The same kinda cost-cutting that makes simple things like packaging work less well than it did when I was a kid (how often does a bag of something’s zipper just rip off and make it impossible to close the thing??)…I could swear I’m starting to see that cost squeeze hit the quality of the products. Finding bones in chicken more often, various grossness in deli meat more often. To say nothing of the reports of nasty conditions at plants that keep coming up.

Maybe it’s all the children working the meat packing plants these days, I’ve always said children make terrible butchers! Should be exciting to see how much more interesting all our food products get in coming years.

All jokes aside, I recently went in on a quarter cow with a friend, from a local rancher. Not an option for everyone, I realize, but I’m starting to buy more locally. I hate to be doom and gloom, but the institutions keeping us safe are being dismantled, visibly, in front of us. And they were not exactly thriving before, either.

  • That does make it tasty, I can stand to do a bit more of that too. Here’s my decadent unconventional (but extremely easy) sandwich topper - crunch-less, sadly, but could probably be improved with some cheese crustin.

I like to melt some butter with red miso, about 50/50 or so? You’ll know the consistency after messing around a bit. Red miso is super dense flavor wise of course and also doesn’t mix easily, so yeah. Today I put it thinly on half a bagel, cream cheese on the other half, toasted, random stuff in between. You can add brown sugar to make it sweeter, or any kind of spice, also both lol.

  • Playing Binding of Isaac finally. I was a little disappointed with the difficulty honestly! One of my most heavily played games ever is another Roguelike - DCSS. To be clear that one is turn-based, which is very different, but it took me years and dozens at least, probably low hundreds of runs to beat it.

I’m sure I’ll be quickly humbled by the hard-mode difficulty and challenges and such on this one though. Super rewarding, fun, and extremely replayable! Great game. The different characters can play really differently, and through RNG you can def end up with some hilariously weak, or strong, builds.
