  • So I know that Shoyu typically uses Bonito Flakes but I use dried shrimp as a substitute. I just grind it up in a mortar and pestle. You also need to use Kombu and a good amount of soy sauce. It’s usually made with pork and chicken stock but I’ve made it with chicken only. I use both dark and regular soy sauce.

Just simmered all of the ingredients for most of the day. I’m not someone who enjoys seafood but I actually liked the flavor the dried shrimp added. It’s not your traditional Shoyu broth but it’s close enough.

The next time I make it I want to use Bonito Flakes instead of dried shrimp. But overall, it’s amazing stuff and I love using it for ramen and rice.

  • I also have an instant pot style pressure cooker and I agree that it’s not really the best for canning, but I love it for cooking. I’ve canned stock in it but only small batches of a few jars. Seems that the downside for pressure canners is that they take up a lot of room for the specific use you need them for. I can see that and it’s a good reason but I would suggest finding the room for one.

Cooking something on your smoker/BBQ and making stock with it is a game changer. It actually retains the smoke. Plus I use stock to cook all my rice. Rice cooked in stock is so much better than water. I’ve made shoyu stock for my Asian dishes, makes a world of difference.

You could always make small batches in your pressure cooker and if it’s something you like, you could upgrade to a designated canner.

  • People who haven’t played the game don’t realize that paying for stash tabs isn’t the biggest deal. I remember thinking it was the end of the world when I started playing almost 10 years ago. But like you I’ve purchased supporter packs and many stash tabs just because of how much I’ve gotten out of the game. Sure it’s a complex game and you have to take the time to learn a lot of the mechanics. But at least it’s fun and has a variety of different content to keep you playing. Unlike Diablo 3 and 4 which get boring after a couple weeks.

Diablo 2 is the best game ever made imo and I will always hate Blizzard for what they did to the series. Path of Exile is a much better successor to Diablo 2 than Diablo 3 and 4 ever will be.

  • It’s slow as fuck. You have to walk around a huge map spamming your resource generators just to hit once with your mediocre resource spending skills. There’s no feeling of progression because you don’t actually get stronger. Monsters just level up with you so it’s always the same. The leveling in an ARPG is usually my favorite part. Trying out new skills, getting stronger, upgrading gear constantly. This game just fucking killed that. Skills are underpowered and uninteresting, did not feel like I was getting stronger at all and I rarely found gear upgrades.

It’s just fucking boring. I’ve played most ARPG’s out there and have never been so bored of the gameplay like I was with D4. I’ll stick to PoE and vanilla/modded D2.

  • I don't use any social media except for Lemmy. It used to be only Reddit but jumped ship after the API changes. I'm enjoying Lemmy for the most part. Commenting is better because it gets more traction compared to Reddit. Unlike others I actually enjoy having all the varying opinions from "problem" instances. It makes it feel less like an echo chamber, which Reddit was bad for.

My only issue is because it's so much smaller than Reddit, there isn't as much content or niche communities. I miss some of the subs I used to frequent on Reddit. Some of them were made into communities here but barely have any activity, like one post per week. I guess at the end of the day it's a good thing cause I spend less time on Lemmy than I used to on Reddit.
