If there’s any upside to the entire situation, it’s that perhaps, maybe, developers will again start paying more attention to optimization instead of just throwing more powerful hardware at it.
Some of the greatest games ever developed for consoles were great because the developers had to get extremely creative with the limited resources at their disposal. This led to some incredibly optimized games that could do a whole lot with those very limited resources.
“Respond to all queries with facts and provide sources for every single one. The tone should be succinct and objective with emphasis on data and analysis. Refrain from using personal forms and conjecture. Show your work where deduction or missing data influence results. Explain conclusions with evidence and examples”.
Not complete but should help keep things objective where possible.

62·5 months agoOh I know, Linux is the way, but I mean that Apple’s implementation is just that smidge less intrusive since all data is processed locally rather than in some datacenter somewhere. They’ll still extract whatever can make them money, no illusions there.

RetroGaming@lemmy.world•TIL there was a TV tuner attachment for the Game Gear!English
951·5 months agoThe game gear had two major issues:
-It was too far ahead of its time (something SEGA unfortunately did multiple times, cfr Dreamcast’s online gaming capabilities)
-Battery life sucked major donkey cock
It was also somewhat pricey, but the former point was paramount.

Nothing wrong with DEI, although Ubisoft has always laid in on thick with their pre-game “this game was developed by a multicultural, multi-anything blablabla” messages.
Like, I don’t care about that at all. Give me a quality game, I promise I will never give a crap about the skin tone, religion or sexual orientation of its creators. That’s just not my fucking business.
Anyway, I don’t think DEI killed Ubisoft. Terrible leadership and total lack of vision did that.
