I have been thinking about it and I think I have seen it at some folks places but then they basically kept a key in it anyway. I could sorta see the bolt as you should not be able to lock yourself in/out with that.

Are people actually worried about this scenario? Seems like having the invader in the first place and you are pretty far down a road where the police lockout is relatively small potatoes given the situation. Also where im at a locked door in that situation won’t stop cops much. If anything the criminal migh find he escalated such that special units were called to the scene.

I don’t burn my bridges but I have a sorta pride in that I have never gotten a job where anyone I knew worked there. Basically never by nepotism. I have had several of my bosses and peers write recommendations for me on linkedin though. That being said I have been unemployed for half a year and have had jobs get to the several interviews point were its decision point. In one case another guy won out over me but in several others they informed me they pulled the position.

Given all you have tried the only thing more I could say is trust cafe by the wikipedia guy. Unfortunately its not federated but it does have this neat thing where you can rate everything. Its basically like nuanced subscribe and block. You rate things between zero and 100 and I think zero would effictively be the same as blocking (which you can still do) and 100 would be the same as subscribing (which you can still do). Everything by default starts at a rating of 50. So its like you can be. mmmm. I like this guys post I will move him to 60. Or this guy seems a bit annoying I will drop him to 40 for now. Then over time the blocks and subscribes come out naturally.

Im a big believer in block. I think its better for people to peruse all and block communities they are uninterested in and you should totally block users you don’t like. To me it should be like real life. Don’t hang with folks you don’t like. My hope for the fediverse is instances that only remove things to stay out of legal trouble and communities that only block things that are unrelated. I want all the big tools to be at the user level. Bottom up.

I do like the Nautilus and wish the designed for everyone philosophy was the predominant one. Especially you get one lower level one put in when they could all be functional for everyone.

what have you worked in the same language for twenty years? I don’t have all the libraries memorized and not only do new ones get created but formats change. Unless I have been using something recently I always check.

Not really for writing yet either. Its an assistant. It can write code sections and comments that then have to be reviewed and edited a bit. Rather than a coder having to go back and forth between a search engine as they write they are more likely to be able to stay in the ide.

I mean that sounds more like a tax haven situation. Honestly to stop that I think countries should require companies meet their tax rate globally where they can deduct what they pay elsewhere.

I would not even say it worked once in 83. Lower rates are one possible reason but like anything with the economy there are plenty of factors including cyclical changes that could explain it.

proven likely true means not proven true. Way to many factors. I personally thing the theory has a sorta merit but is very limited and vague (in the sense of there is no identification of where the exact sweet spot of taxation levels are). For example the punitive measures for not paying taxes at very high levels need to be very severe to curtail such behavior. So five figure owning person or mom and pop shop you give a slap on the wrist. Maybe 10% of owed added. Wealthiest individuals and companies get knocked completely out of their level so like 500% of what was owed.

This is what is funny for me. I would like tariffs to discourage trade with countries that have less democracy, rights for its citizens, and high income disparity (which unfortunately we are not a paragon of currently) and encourage trade with countries that are the reverse of that.
