I bought starsector but I have no idea what my actual key is anymore so I always just use the key from SsethTzeentach’s video on it. So it’s technically piracy but from what I’ve heard the Starsector dev doesn’t care that people just use that key because that video and the key being released publicly made their sales go way up anyways. They’re one of the few devs that realizes that piracy doesn’t actually hurt their sales.
Will that also block all users from that instance? I was under the impression that it just blocked posts from that instance showing up in your feed.

If that's what it is the the way they're doing it is beyond obnoxious because I can't just block the whole thing. If I wanted reddit comments then I would be using reddit.
Google has already been caught serving ads that inject malware on multiple occasions. It's literally googles ad service that can't be trusted. If they don't even have the decency to vet the ads that they're serving (which they clearly don't) then I'm definitely blocking the damn things.

Fuck Meta and all but this isn’t news. Meta litterally said straight up that they would be doing this before threads ever launched. If you have an instagram account then that is also your threads account. This isn’t some conspiracy it’s exactly what they told everyone they were doing. It’s no diferent than linked accounts for google services.
The concern is that the fediverse as it exists now may not be big enough to survive corporations entering it. If they start creating their own modified versions of that open protocol (which they will) it will eventually mean they start breaking compatibilty with the rest of the fediverse. That means that the rest of the fediverse will then need to move over to their protocol which they have control over or just accept that the free and open fediverse can no longer connect to the corporate fediverse. Right now the free and open fediverse is small and may not have the staying power to survive that disconnect once people get used to being connected to the corporate side of fediverse. Once that disconnect happens the average joe is going to go with the side that has more content which is going to be the corporate fediverse if they are alowed to join before the free and open fediverse has truely gotten off the ground.
Meta has also never been anything other than actively malicious when it comes to online communities. Giving them any power at all in the still infant fediverse brings more risk than any possible reward. It’s like letting a hyena into a daycare and saying it’s fine because the hyena isn’t hungry right now. Eventually it will be and why would you even let it in in the first place. Eventually meta will want more control. Letting them in now and allowing them to cement their place in the fediverse will just make it that much easier to extend and extinguish when that time comes.
That’s not true. Winter tires grip just fine in warm weather. The only downsides of using winter tires in the summer are that they wear faster because of the softer rubber, have increased road noise due to the more agressive tread, and they’re just typically more expensive than all weather tires. Technically there is a slight handling difference because of the deeper more agressive tread but not enough that it is even noticable to most people. So it’s still a good idea to swap if you can, but they are not unsafe to use in the summer, just unwise for your wallet. If the vehicle you have them on isn’t a daily driver it may not even make sense to switch them out.
