There is always a well-known solution to every human problem - neat, plausible, and wrong.

I actually gave it a once over with a lighter to stop the fraying.

But my experience with some ropes is that the action of loading and unloading or otherwise jostling the knot can cause it to come loose.
That is why I used this rather than the reef knot. This wont come undone when not under constant tension.
If you need extra security it’s often better to tie a stopper knot in the ends of the lines rather than tying them together.

I believe that double fisherman’s knot is what a climber would use in a situation like this.

My personal philosophy is to start with life threatening wounds and work down from there: Tourniquet, emergency bandage, hemostatic dressing …

Here’s my favorites:
Perfection loop
Bowline / Yosemite bowline
Alpine butterfly
Trucker’s hitch
Constrictor knot
Figure eight / follow throught
Sheet bend
Zeppelin bend
Double fisherman’s knot
Scaffold/Poacher’s knot
Stopper knot

From now on yes - we needed to clear some space in the woodshed.

Trucker’s hitch. It also gives you 3:1 mechanical advantage and there’s a self-locking version too.

I’m not sure if this is even suitable for climbing. I like it because it’s easy to untie even after being tightened.

Hoist for mother-in-law transportation capsule.

Luckily I’ve yet to receive such call. The vast majority of my customers are unreasonably reasonable.
However, if there ever is an issue with the quality of my work, I’ll ofcourse come and fix it free of charge.

When installing something for a customer, yes.
The point is that when your life depends on it, you perhaps shouldn’t DIY it.
You can also make your own parachute from a tarp and some paracord.

I use AI a lot and I’ve spent months trying to craft an instructional prompt that would produce even remotely human-like answers and it reliably fails at this every single time. I guess I can imagine how it could fool someone for a while who has never interacted with an LLM before but I honestly don’t have a theory of mind for the individuals who are convinced about it. I’ve just grown so sensitive to the patterns of how it responds that I’m immediately disillusioned by it.
I sure hope we get there one day but we’re not there yet and I honestly haven’t seen a huge amount of improvement over the past few years. I still value it for the ultra-autistic thinking partner that it is but at no point does it give me reason to think there’s much of anything “human” going on the other side.

The inconvenient action here would be to vote with your wallet and stop going to the movies rather than rewarding them for showing ads prior to a movie that you paid to watch.

Because most people’s principles goes out the window the moment sticking to them becomes slightly inconvenient so companies are allowed to get away with it.
I’m talking about one of these things. Not that I disagree about the 3D printer, though.

I’m obsessed about ones with this style of handle. I rarely use a dedicated screwdriver, mostly a ratcheting bit driver or electric drill, but for example I have this one tiny vintage Stanley flathead that’s almost more of a pick and it’s such a delight everytime I get to use it.
