My Ryzen 3900X idles at around 50C, although that’s a few generations ago now
There seems to be a big difference between older CPUs and the newer ones, where the newer ones are running a lot hotter now under load.
I personally use a 5800X and it gets to 90c often.
CPUs these days run pretty cool.
Thought the AMD CPU ran around 90 celsius?

Valve’s decision to slap the game with an Unsupported rating, then, is down to one game mode not working because it needs to access PlayStation network features, which right now is only possible on Windows devices.
It’ll be interesting to see how Sony and Valve resolve this issue.

31·2 months agoThat said, it wouldn’t do much in your scenario unless other UIs did something similar (i.e. you’d still need to cross-reference you comments to accommodate other UIs that view them separately). It would just make it easier on you to participate in conversation on 3 posts simultaneously. I guess it would be a bit easier to cross-reference your comments since you could do it from the same page, though.
You’re right, and something else to consider, I use the Lemmy web client, not a mobile app client.
A generalization, but it sounds like you’re trying to fix Federation, by making things defederated, to make things more centralized.
Federation has good points, and bad points. I don’t mean to discourage you from your conversation, but I think you need to consider the meta of what Federation is.
Having said all that, I recently participated in a conversation about EA putting ads in their games, and there was three different posts in three different communities, on the same subject.
I literally had to add links in my comment, that I was duplicating, to the other two duplicated comments of mine, so they were all cross referenced. It was definitely a pain in the butt to do so.

Yep, unless it has something to do with how Proton does its emulation/layer work, vis-a-vis quantity of cores, etc.
I personally don’t know enough about it to say, either way.

I feel like you’re missing the point. Maybe I wasn’t clear. Yes, Lemmy World does use it, however it’s a feature of Lemmy itself, not just of Lemmy World. Lemmy World is just one instance of Lemmy and they all use the same markup.
My point is calling it the Lemmy.World markup is inaccurate and potentially misleading. Lemmy is more than just Lemmy.World.
I understand, but also, I was speaking directly to the link that exists in the Lemmy.World’s web-based editor, I have no access to any other web-based or otherwise editors from other servers.
If the Lemmy.World web-based editor is maintained by the Lemmy devs themselves, then it is a Lemmy editor, agreed.
I’m not aware either way though if it is/not, and I’ve been arguing with people that take any slight ambiguity from me as ammo to attack me with, so I was being very specific, based on my own personal use-case and the specific server URL of the link I was speaking of.
Doesn’t The Witcher 2 support Linux natively anyway?
You’re assuming the Linux code base for that game doesn’t potentially have the same issue. How much of the two code bases share common code, etc.

It seems to me, based on that description, that there’s some kind of quantity issue going on, with games, that made Proton fixing it needed.
Basically, a balancing act problem, that’s fixed by just limiting how much balancing you need to do. Using your analogy, making sure there’s only X wrenches available to assemble that Ikea furniture.
But thats just a guess on my part.

So if you don’t trust the link I gave you, go to https://lemmy.world/ in your web browser, and hit the reply button for any comment, and then press the circle with a ‘?’ inside of the circle button, and you’ll be taken to the same page as “https://join-lemmy.org/docs/en/users/02-media.html”.

it’s just such a popular cpu it never seems to come down as much as you’d think. Kind of the end game for anyone who doesn’t want a new motherboard.
Yep, agree. Maybe a fools hope, but I’m hoping that someday remaining stock will want to be sold off to make room for the 8000 line of CPUs, etc.
I wait a long time for Steam sales, and my 5800X takes well care of me today, so I’m not in a rush, and am used to the wait.
Nice seeing a game not needing a third-party launcher, but instead just works with the Steam launcher.
