  • I read something about the birth of these private Equity firms sometime in the late 70s or early '80s when a firm bought out this other productive firm and loaded them up with debt, paid themselves every which way they could, sold off any profitable parts of the company, then declared bankruptcy and stiffed everybody else walking away with a boatload of cash, unemployed workforces, and razed Pension funds.

We have been celebrating this type of behavior for decades now, Behavior I think exemplified in Monty Python’s skits of the pirate building seizing the other buildings like it was a pirate ship.

  • It’s because he has been the victim of clearly unfair attacks. So many people will defend that person to the hilt on everything because they were unfairly attacked on other things.

We see this over and over with government agencies that the Republicans may attack to try to make them worse and everybody else pretends like they were doing an acceptable job all around.

Bill Gates is a piece of shit though, in at least three different ways. Pushing over use of toxic pesticides like glyphosate, advocating for spraying sulfur dioxide en masse in the upper atmosphere to slow global warming in so-called Geo engineering, and as you mentioned, fucking underage girls.

He’s not one of the good guys no matter how good his PR people did in the last 30 years painting him as a likable old coot. He is not that, he is a deluded man that has nobody to tell him when he is wrong in his orbit.

  • Thanks!

There have been quite a few other herbs that have been used in Brewing before. Iyy is one from circa 1st millenium, the one that is used in abstinenth has been another.

I have a lot of yarrow growing wild, I think that might even be good. Burdock root has an interesting taste. I am not so delicate that I cannot experiment and not enjoy something that is less than it would be if hops.
