Best way to decentralize users more would probably be to make your own instance. .world is certainly centralizing Lemmy’s userbase too much right now.

Lemmy was PLASTERED on the front page. It was on r/place along with “FUCK SPEZ”.

Most reddit users aren’t on there everyday to see those. If you were talking about Lemmy on reddit for a month or two after things calmed down you’d see barely anyone there still know about this place.

Most people on reddit don’t even know about Lemmy lol. I’m sure a large chunk of users, particularly on lefty subs and programming ones, would love to check it out.

Ads definitely aren’t the way to go though since you’d be giving reddit money. Perhaps setting something up with mods of said subreddits?

Threads has massive homophobic and racist accounts like LibsOnTikTok and MomsForLiberty. We shouldn’t federate with an instance that can’t even take care of banning that.

After some careful consideration, I have decided to block threads.net on pixelfed.social and .art by default

However, users will have the ability to unblock the domain

Soon we will be selectively enforcing authorized fetch for accounts with domain blocks so as to provide the best of both worlds.

(I’m also shipping a command for :pixelfed: admins to easily add user domain blocks for all local users)
