I think it’s been a while since I’ve looked around the app and tightened things up a bit so I’m planning to do just that with this release.

First up on the block, I’m not happy with how the card layouts look. I’ve more of a list layout user myself so I never really looked too much into the card layout designs. However I feel like using them has made me realize that they are lacking. In particular it’s still difficult to tell when posts end and begin. To help with this, I’ve made minor design changes to all 3 card layouts.

Card Card 2 Card 3

Changes so far

  • Updated designs for layouts Card, Card 2 and Card3.
  • Fixed a bug where images within tables do not load.
  • Fixed a bug where post data does not update after a comment is posted.
  • Fixed a bug where post content will sometimes flicker even if nothing has changed.
  • Fixed a bug where the shadows of the card layouts were cropped.

I’m not sure if it’s a (data saving) feature or a bug, but I’ve been noticing that images in my post feed are substantially lower in quality compared to images in the actual post view.

Thank you for reporting this. This issue is not a bug. The images loaded in the post list are the “previews” from the post which are usually lower quality. This is done for mostly performance as Lemmy servers tend to serve the preview images way faster than the “originals”. When you open a post, it loads the original image which is higher quality but may take a lot longer to load. Not really sure there is a good solution here other than maybe an option to toggle to load originals in the post feed instead of previews however I anticipate that the performance would suffer greatly.

Ah, okay! Thank you for clarifying. :)

Re: possible performance issues, it’s a possibility of course, but I haven’t noticed strange behaviour from Voyager, an app that does display the original quality image in the feed view.
