I didn’t like it but I do find this very funny and satisfying, considering how hard right wing grifters and their audiences tried with their “go woke, go broke” campaign in the lead up.
I’ve seen it said that the reason Chris did all that was to make sure the right didn’t coopt the message or unironically show it as a peak masculine ideal, similar to what has happened with his past movies. I could believe it

The Odyssey is adapted from a book and there was no sequel to it! As others have pointed out, The Iliad is more of a prequel.

The Iliad happened before the odyssey, actually. And he definitely won’t make an Iliad movie because the trojan war was already covered in the movie.

Given they cashed in on the pivotal horse scene already, I doubt they’ll do a separate illiad movie
The famous climactic chapter where Priam sneaks into Achilles’s tent and asks for a giant wooden horse.
Now he could get really wild and go for the bizarro-world sequel and make the Aeneid next.
Frankly there should have been one planned to begin with. If the first movie was everything after the horse and before his return to Ithica, and the second movie was about his return and what all happens there, maybe the pacing wouldn’t have felt so rushed and they could have done any amount of environmental story telling whatsoever.
I don’t think there was enough to do a LotR treatment. Not while keeping interest from the first part to get people back for the second. I don’t think the pacing was rushed as much as disjointed with flashbacks by necessity to explain why things had happened. Adaptations to visual media is difficult. We see it in every book brought to the screen. Maybe if we hadn’t lost all the other stories in between.
The Aeneid is arguably a sequel. Certainly Virgil wanted it to be.
In reality it’s more like fanfic, but hey, that’s close enough for Hollywood.
I was going to go watch this in imax as I’d never been before, but we only have one imax cinema here and it has just been 100% fully booked out since opening.
