My buddy who’s a cinephile wants to go w me, but will only see it in that format. Both the places are mad far and have thus far been sold out. I’m ready to give up and just go solo and see it in a regular theater. I legit don’t give a single fuck about imax. It just means I’ll have to pay double for tickets.
Spiderman did it in like three days or some shit, which is crazy.
Spiderman is one of the most popular franchises ever and the most popular superhero worldwide, so it’s not that surprising. The Odyssey crossing 1 billion while not being part of a franchise is more impressive imo.

Wait, the new one? I’ve been so over Marvel movies for like a fucking decade. That’s wild, I didn’t know they could still move tickets like that.
It’s interesting how many films are passing $1B. Honestly I think it’s more due to ticket prices and inflation. I wish they tracked ticket sales vs gross revenue.
There are a few reasons why we don’t list the amount of tickets sold:
- The movie business never started reporting tickets sold. From the inception, it’s always been raw dollars, so the data for tickets sold literally does not exist for older movies.
- Not all tickets are equal. An evening ticket is more expensive than an afternoon ticket, and IMAX ticket or 3D ticket is more expensive than a standard ticket, a ticket at a big city mall multiplex is more expensive than a ticket at a family-owned drive-in theater in the country, etc. So just listing the raw ticket amounts wouldn’t tell you how much was made.
- The studios don’t really care about tickets sold, they care about profit.

It was a good ride (which is what the poem literally is) and had a message that should resonate with [points at all of this].
It’s alright. I would rather rewatch Project Hail Mary if I had 3 hours to waste.
Worth watching in IMAX. Not the best acting, Tom Holland steals the movie, Lupita Nyong’o second.
The sets are amazing and costumes will win a lot awards.
Personally, higher then Dunkirk, lower then Batman Begins.

Holland was the strongest overall actor. Very emotional and motivated.
Damon feels flat like always.
Hathaway is good but she plays to the level of her co-actor in the scene.
Not patterson’s best work. He drags down the hathaway scenes.
Jon Bernthal is great but same role as normal. Holland steals their scenes.
Lupita is on for single digit minutes and sells her rage second.
My boy John, is a roller coaster. Very high marks and very low points.

As someone who has hated on John Leguizamo for bad reasons most of my life, I’m surprised to find myself crediting him with stealing the show.
Leguizamo is a good humble actor. When he needs to be big, it comes off as arrogant.
This is probably why he works so fucking well for me in Romeo + Juliet and Spawn, those guys are supposed to be big and arrogant and get their shit kicked in near the end

I watched a HD cam rip online of it so I could judge it on just the acting, story and directing. It doesn’t seem to be a very coherent movie. None of the actors are very good. The way they read their lines feels like they don’t care. The adaptation of the source material is very off and really all of it could’ve been done much better. I’m sure in IMAX, the focus is on the theme park ride aspect of it and that’s cool but it isn’t Nolans best work.
