I really want to turn this phone into my daily driver, so i started working on one of the features i would want in a daily driver, working GPS.

This is the current component support table of postmarketos: FP6 feature support table

i think audio is too complex for me, so i decided to tackle GPS, as you can see its currently listed as broken, but not anymore!

It really helped i have another FP6 running android, i could directly inspect how it was talking to the modem to get it working.

So i started pulling threads and here we are. I want to upstream this and i’m making an account so i can submit patches for modemmanager and libqmi, but i have never upstreamed something before, so advice is appreciated!

If you have a linux phone and want to use it as a daily driver, see if you can contribute it! this is how we build up the linux ecosystem.

I want you poster uncle sam meme with Tux captioned "I want you to contribute to mobile linux"

I’ve got a FP6+ running your postmarketos image - this is some amazing work!

Two things I don’t seem to be able to get working are GPS and Calls. I’m in Australia with Telstra - I’m happy to provide any logs or other data to try and sort these out.

Had to add this to my /usr/share/fp6-vendor-blobs/manifest.d/20-focal64.manifest as my SHA was different to get things going. mbn modem_a,modem_b image focal64 /usr/lib/firmware/focal64.mbn b0bc9ca2bf14b2325f1debd20c03b09e3831f88256f3e79a025d5fd95fee1b05

      Thank you!

yeah firmware extraction is a bit finicky at the moment sadly. I am considering removing the hash check, i placed it there to prevent it from using incorrect firmware but if it blocks working firmware then it probably needs to go.

If you want please add me on matrix @the_mighty_cat:catcrafts.net so we can debug the calls.
