And I notice a thing that I miss with a lot of newer material is a certain degree of rawness. In production, execution,…

Something about those slight tempo variations that you just can’t program into a click track spontaneously gives it that extra bit of bite to me.

And even a certain amount of sloppiness in playing sometimes. If it’s not too much I find it a plus for some styles.

So if you know any bands or albums that really stand out to scratch that itch, please share.

    Hellripper (with a slightly blackened edge), Pest Control (crossover for a slightly DRI style) and you can’t go wrong with BoltThrower or Sabbat (UK).

      I remember Sabbat from looking up Warhammer records. Blood for the blood god was some majestic mystical stuff. Love it.
