What has been your experience with ButcherBox meat?
For me, personally, I absolutely love the grass-fed beef options (specifically, the ribeyes and strip loin for me, since they’re the fattiest of them all), and that’s all I’ve had. There are some other options, including pork, though I don’t eat that for cannon law reasons.
I was just curious otherwise.
We’ve had a good experience overall! ButcherBox’s grass-fed beef is definitely their strongest category — the ribeyes and strip loins are consistently well-marbled and tender, so you’re spot on there.
The ground beef and chuck roasts are also solid if you like higher-fat cuts.
We haven’t personally tried the pork options either, but other Carnies on line have mentioned the bacon and pork shoulder are decent quality if you’re not avoiding pork.
The only thing I’d say is that sometimes the steaks can vary a bit in thickness from box to box, but flavor-wise they’ve always been reliable.
Curious what other Carnies have experienced too — everyone’s box seems a little different!
I just consume the ribeyes and strip loins, so I get that experience as well (the packaging is different every time it comes for me though, but I think that’s due to old stock that’s well kept and still fresh). For the ground beef and chuck, I’ve never had it (my mother, whom I refer to as Anko, actually recommended I just do the ribeyes and loins), but I’d imagine it’s good. As for the pork, I avoid it (religious reasons) regardless, but I’d probably try it if I hadn’t stopped eating it (I probably got sick eating pork, and other things like crayfish, lobster, crab, and anything else unclean).
I know the hot dogs aren’t the best, but their quality is actually pretty good despite their taste not being that great.
Yeah, overall butcherbox is a good company. If you’re not good a selecting meats yourself from a local butcher it can help you understand what cuts of meat to look for.
