While I thoroughly love the show, the show has a number of massive flaws. Some of the main cast are lackluster when it comes to their acting abilities, which is only made worse in standing next to James Spader. Combine that with some inconsistency of the internal world, repeat story beats with Liz not trusting Red over something stupid or minor that could have been solved with the simple discussion, on either part, and a frustrating unwillingness to openly say who Red obviously was? The show just misses the great mark for me. Very, very, very close and a show that I thoroughly enjoy, but just barely off the mark.

Ah yes, I respect and accept your analysis. In my earlier days I would have felt the same way. Through time I have learned to dismiss the inconsistencies, chalk it up to artistic freedom. I do wholly agree they went a bit too deep into the reluctance of revealing identity. At the same time, the way the whole show was presented, just feels so natural and realistic, even though it is not. Holds a special place in my heart. James Spader is a giant.

That is totally fair. I’m not saying that I don’t enjoy the fuck out of the show. I do. There is a reason I made all those gifs. Reddington is just beautiful to watch. And so is Aram but for different reasons. He’s so cute.

I am currently rewatching it on the side. The later seasons do show some sloppy mistakes when it comes to continuity. I suspect this was because of time crunch/money issues. Go too fast, get sloppy.

All in all, we agree. ^^
