I don’t think replacing our antisemitism with islamophobia is the best route to overcoming bigotry.

oh that’s why people are mad. Yeah sure. I’m just noticing a pattern; instead of going for the “classic” stereotype, they went for a different one.

Both are bad. It is novel that it’s different.

Well if it’s an observation rather than an assertion I guess that’s fair enough

All Arabs are Muslims? Well close to it I guess, since countries captured by the Islamic sect of the Yahweh cult tend to eradicate competing ones.

people in an online discussion are using shorthands to refer to analogies in IRL about sterotypes in fiction.

Guess what, when I said “Space arabs” it was a shorthand for the perception of west asian people (maybe even north african people), which includes many diverse religions and cultural groups , including arabs and turks and persians and christians and muslims.

When @causepix@lemmy.ml said islamaphobia replacing antisemitism, they were referring to the change in stereotype referred to not being any better, not singling out muslims.

relax a little on perfectionism and “um actually”; it gets people shot (counting or not counting gang violence?)

All Jews are semitic? Well close to it I guess, let me pull out some plainly racist stereotype for why that would be the case and pretend it’s reasonable because I happen to also be critical of religion as a whole.

Racist? Are you one of those idiots who think a cult is an ethnicity? No one is born a cultist.

lmao thanks for the confirmation you aren’t a serious person. Which is great, because what you’re implying is fucking disgusting.

“It’s not about race, I just hate their inferior culture! Nobody is born engaging in their culture, so certainly ethnicity is not in any way intrinsically tied to culture or the political context of the world around them! They could just as easily rebuke their culture for whatever I personally deem worthy, believe the same lies I believe, and look down on their own people in the same way I do. Then they’ll be one of the good ones.”

It’s toootally only about religion though. Mate.
