3 months agoIt is mind-blowing indeed! Especially when they said it would take 11 of those maps to show the distance between a proton and en electron, it’s inconceivable how empty even the matter we’re surrounded by is.

It really helps put distances into perspective, I also loved the little phrases along the way :D
9·3 months agoWhy? It’s the point of Lemmy, being able to participate in communities regardless of where they’re hosted and where your account is registered.
The biggest problem NASA has is they operate under the whims of the US government, while SpaceX doesn’t.
Space research and operations require very long-term planning, you can’t change direction every 4 years, just because a new president has different ideas than the previous one, it’s already a miracle that NASA has been able to do what they’re doing in this awful conditions.
No wonder SpaceX took over. It’s not NASA’s fault but the US government.
