I am on 1.49.5 but sometimes have a very weird problem with the preview of a webpage in the post. With this it is reproducible: https://programming.dev/post/23228069

When i click on this post in my feed, it opens and very briefly displays the google logo in the post. So it is only a split second there and this happens every time I open the post again. I assume it is some weird behavior with the link preview?

From within the app, so that the button to switch to your home instance appears. Though, this might only be possible with posts and not communities I assume. To open it in a browser you can somewhat workaround it using “share source link”. This is the only way for me to currently I can think of. But then I have the (not so great) website and not your awesome app to browse :D

Also, would it be possible to automatically load the last draft for a comment? So I mean when you are going into the comment creation again, the app checks if there is a draft for this specific comment/post id.

Btw., the “show full context” turned out really nice for commenting!

Thank you! Would it be possible to add a link to the context menu of a post to view it from the original instance? I (still) have federation issues like with this and other communities so at least being able to read posts and comments would be nice.

Note: 1.44.4 has still not rolled out everywhere. I had to use the aurora store which allowed me to update.

Did you recently update the app? On my tablet it now always crashes trying to open a post.

What I also found is that the image viewer touch inputs break when returning to it from the lock screen.

• open image fullscreen (without controls visible?)
• lock device
• unlock device
• image viewer stops responding to inputs and can only be closed via system back

Notes: i am on a portrait tablet (sadly) but with rotation in landscape. Therefore, the lockscreen is in portrait and also for a split moment apps are also until the “forced” rotation kicks in. Maybe that helps it bugging it.

Edit: well, fuck, that forced rotation seems to be the problem… I mean it would be cool if if this shit would be configurable, because I fucking hate, how the lockscreen is always sideways… Ignore this bug if it is too shitty to find or fix.

Yeah, I know. There is already no space in landscape mode to display the comment. But on the other hand it is very shitty having to exit the composing completely to look up what the comment you are replying to references in its parent.

Maybe you find some way at some point. If not, then not, I guess.

• make it more obvious that there are no comments on a post? Like I find myself trying to refresh multiple times trying to get comments to load although there are none.
• show all comments in the comment chain when drafting a comment, not just the one the one that is targeted to be the “parent”?

Not sure it was already addressed or if you know that this is a thing: sometimes, I open a post and immediately go to the comments. But then I find I am too deep in so I scroll back up to get to the top comment. But then it “loads” images in the post and of course the whole comment section moves the same amount to the bottom as the image is high. Probably horribly explained. Anyway, I can stay a as long in the comments as I want but getting the main post in the viewport triggers the layout recalc with the image now available that it did not have in the previous calculation, shifting everything.

In other (ape) words: when image in post slow, and comments fast, and scroll to comments; then comments move down fast when scrolling up to post.

Not sure if that was at least somehow understandable? It basically can only happen when the comments load fast but the server serving an image in the post takes a long time to even send the height info of the image. As far as I understand what the problem is. However, I am not sure what the solhtion would be. It just is annoying as hell when it hapens.

A “jump to comments” button would maybe be cool but I can’t see how that could be implemented without being shitty.

My go-to solution is to use a vm and pass it raw access to the os disk on my normal desktop. Then I just put the disk into the server.

As a “theoretical hobby game dev”: steam also provides workshop, networking and matchmaking (lobby) tools. For all the stuff you get I personally find this reasonable. If I remember correctly, mobile phone app stores take a big cut too and I can’t see how they would come close.

Gigabyte Aorus maybe? Some years ago I sent in my MB that suddenly stopped working via the store I bought it from. No issues. Repaired and fully functional since.

I sent in another one after for a very weird issue. Long story short, I think something is slightly broken with the RAM slots but since it happens “only” sometimes (depends on how hardware is plugged in; and also randomly), they could not find any problem and sent it back as “OK”. So I am only partial disappointed. Process was without friction and charge.

The board that still currently drives my computer is asrock. Won’t buy them again because they put the cooling fan directly below the (hot) grapics card, made accessing m.2 real shitty and were missing a uefi feature I thought was standard (from gigagbyte; which graphics to use for init).

All my boards fall in the highend category, but not the absolute top. Also, I am in the EU.
