  • How very presumptuous of you. You’re wrong, of course. If I was apathetic enough to ignore my civic duty, I wouldn’t have commented to begin with; I’d’ve just downvoted and moved on.

Just because I protest the hypocrisy of the Democratic party and their candidate doesn’t mean I prefer the unfiltered evil of the Republican party and theirs.

  • Man, I thought I’d found my people in this community, but my perfectly civil comment discussing scientific definitions of ‘sex’ was removed. That shows that this is likely just another echo chamber that can’t abide civil conversation around scientific facts when said facts make people feel icky.

The worst part is I’m on your side. I’m all in on inclusivity and representation. I’m trans. I’m bisexual. I’m just open-minded, seemingly unlike whichever mod removed my comment.

You, apotheotic, seem civil enough. I was looking forward to discussing biological sex with you, maybe expanding my understanding in the process, but it’s not worth trying to have a conversation if I have to worry about my responses being unceremoniously removed. For what it’s worth, your reply has inspired me to do some more reading on the subject.

Reddit mod practices seem to have bled into every corner of Lemmy. Community: blocked. Good riddance.

  • I don’t know the game well - never played its original release and I likely won’t play this remake - but from what I understand, the women in question are zombies, so consent isn’t really a factor.

If anything, removing this feature slightly reduces immersion and significantly changes the main character’s personality. I can understand why someone who was a fan of the original would be hesitant to get the remake, since the main character is a different person, morally speaking.

It’s like Star Wars - Han shot first, and changing that doesn’t change the story in any real way, but it significantly changes Han’s character.

  • Sounds like something someone who hasn’t actually watched the show would say.

Most modern Trek is not worth watching, IMO, but Lower Decks is so much more than just another modern Trek show. It’s a perfect blend of old Trek nostalgia and modern comedy. Its writers are clearly huge Trek fans, as the show is very respectful of Trek tropes and often references fairly obscure lore.

In short: your opinion is wrong. /s

Try watching it with an open mind (as any person who truly appreciates the core of Star Trek philosophy would) and you’ll probably find that you really like it.

  • It’s so important to learn regular household skills early on. My parents never taught me to do laundry, so even though I’ve been doing my own for decades, I still get a little anxious when I do, and often ask my wife to double-check before I start any loads.

I always get my preschool-aged kid to help (or just “help”) around the house whenever possible. If the prospect of helping Mom or Dad isn’t enough or if they’re especially helpful, I’ll occasionally throw in a small monetary reward (max of $3 for now). I try to remain as hands-off as possible in those moments, stepping in only as necessary to correct mistakes or do tasks too big for a little one. They’re still too young to do most chores solo, but they’ve developed enough confidence in things like cooking, cleaning, doing laundry, etc. that I’m certain they’ll have no issues when they’re of age.
